Maternal & Child Health

Despite of the progress in reducing maternal, neonatal & child mortality, far too many women and children in Uganda continue to die from entirely preventable pregnancy related conditions and illnesses.

336 per 100,000 mothers die in childbirth...

336 per 100,000 mothers die in childbirth, 27 children per 1000 live births die before they have a chance to live (within the first 28 days of life), while 64 children per 1000 live birth die before age five. Poor women & children are the most vulnerable as they lack access to quality healthcare such as ANC services, skilled delivery, vaccination, EMOC or nutrients all of which save lives. This is especially true in deprived rural, slums and in fishing communities. Women, Children & Girls often lack access to care or information during pregnancy, labor and the postnatal period.

Our programs aim to save and improve lives. We train and work with VHTs to ensure that women and children especially in low resource setting access lifesaving health information and actual health care services, we train frontline health workers in communities to offer quality MCH services including ANC, skilled delivery, postnatal care, diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and newborn sepsis proven to reduce maternal & child deaths as well as work with district health teams and ministry of health on health system strengthening and advocacy for better service delivery agendas
