Clean water, basic toilets and good hygiene practices are essential for the health and survival of children. Without these basic needs, the lives of households and children in particular are at risk. For children under five, water- and sanitation-related diseases are one of the leading causes of death. At Women Health Channel our focus is on four core elements namely: (1) eliminating open defecation (2) facilitating processes for the attainment of universal access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for households, schools and health facilities (3) halving the proportion of the population without access at home to safely managed drinking water and improved sanitation facilities and (4) progressively eliminating inequalities in access. We collaborate with government and community structures and leadership to facilitate processes for the adoption of hygiene and sanitation best practices at community level.
